1. Cookies and similar technologies

Cookies are small text files stored by a browser. Local storage and session storage let a website keep information in the browser for longer or for a single tab session. In this Policy, “browser storage” covers all of these technologies.

We use browser storage to keep Unograph secure and signed in, preserve work and preferences, remember your privacy choice, and, only with permission, measure usage or record interaction sessions. Our Privacy Policy explains how we process the related personal data.

2. Storage categories

Strictly necessary
Required to provide a feature you request, maintain secure sessions, prevent abuse, or remember your privacy choice. These cannot be disabled through our preference panel.
Functional
Remembers choices such as theme, tutorial progress, or a browser-only draft. Removing it may reset those choices or delete local work.
Analytics
Helps us understand which pages and product interactions are useful. It is disabled until you opt in.
Session Replay
Reconstructs pseudonymous clicks, scrolling, and navigation to help us diagnose usability issues. It has its own optional control and is disabled until you opt in.

Unograph does not use browser storage for third-party behavioural advertising.

3. Current browser-storage inventory

Exact browser presentation may vary by browser and environment. PostHog storage includes a project-specific identifier in place of the pattern shown below.

Name or pattern Provider / domain Purpose and category Typical duration
unograph_session Unograph / app.unograph.com Authentication and secure session; strictly necessary Session or configured sign-in period
unograph_analytics_consent Unograph / .unograph.com Remembers analytics and replay choices; strictly necessary 180 days
unograph_tutorial_seen and tutorial state Unograph / app.unograph.com Prevents unwanted repeated onboarding and remembers progress; functional Until reset, cleared, or expired by the application
Anonymous draft storage Unograph / app.unograph.com local storage Preserves a browser-only draft you create; strictly necessary for that requested feature Until you save to cloud, delete it, clear browser data, or the browser removes it
Theme and interface preferences Unograph / local storage Remembers display and interface choices; functional Until reset or browser data is cleared
ph_<project>_posthog and related ph_* keys PostHog via .unograph.com cookie and local storage Pseudonymous identifier, consented events, session continuity, and replay state; analytics and/or Session Replay Up to 365 days; replay session identifiers may expire sooner
ph_<project>_window_id and related session keys PostHog via session storage Distinguishes a browser window during a consented analytics or replay session Browser-tab session

Security and infrastructure providers may process network identifiers needed to deliver and protect requests even when they do not set a browser cookie.

4. PostHog analytics and Session Replay

PostHog is not initialised on this website until you enable Analytics or Session Replay. You may enable either category, enable both, or use only necessary storage. A refusal is kept only in the necessary consent cookie and is not sent to PostHog as an analytics event.

If you enable Analytics, we send only allowlisted events and properties. Automatic click capture and automatic pageview capture are disabled. If you enable Session Replay, inputs are masked and network request and response bodies and headers are excluded. Console logs and canvas recording are disabled. Sensitive fields and elements marked private are excluded.

PostHog receives this data through its EU endpoint. Its provider operations and subprocessors may involve other locations subject to contractual and legal safeguards. See PostHog’s Privacy Policy and our analytics disclosure.

5. Cookies set during third-party interactions

If you choose Google sign-in, your browser visits Google, which may use its own cookies under Google’s cookie rules. Those cookies are controlled by Google rather than Unograph.

If paid checkout is introduced, Stripe or the payment provider identified at checkout may use strictly necessary security, checkout, and fraud-prevention technologies under its own policy. Those technologies are not used for the current free early-access flow. See Stripe’s Cookie Policy.

6. How to control browser storage

Unograph preferences

Optional categories start off. You can change your choice at any time. Withdrawing consent stops new optional collection and removes PostHog browser storage on a best-effort basis; it does not affect processing that occurred while consent was active.

Browser controls

Most browsers let you view, block, or delete cookies and site data. Blocking all storage may prevent sign-in, delete browser-only drafts, reset preferences, or break other requested features. Settings apply separately to each browser and device.

Some browsers offer “Do Not Track” or similar signals without a single industry standard. Our consent controls determine optional PostHog collection. We do not use cross-context behavioural advertising.

7. Changes to this Policy

We will update this inventory when we materially change browser storage, providers, purposes, or retention. If a new non-essential category requires consent, we will not enable it through this website until the relevant notice and control are in place.
